Combat shooting army training to strengthen the combat ability of soldiers

(Reported by: Military News Agency, reporter: Ke Peng-sin, Taoyuan, 21st, February) 6th Army Command held a media invitational for combat shooting training at Gao-shanding Camp today. Service personnel made use of a new type of rifle to demonstrate shooting under the "Appraisal of Basic Shooting on Table 3-1" and "Shooting Appraisal of Quick Response on Table 3-3". Journalists also experienced shooting air exercises in full armor to understand more about the differences between combat shooting now and in the past.

Army Command stated that traditional rifle shooting training is mostly fixed-distance, directional, single-target, and about posture, and since these training measures lack flexibility, it is difficult for service personnel to manage complex combat operations and novel modes of combat patterns. As such, Infantry Training Command has implemented reforms of training methods based on research, recent international military conflicts, and defense operation needs.

Army Command further stated that actual combat shooting has changed from the original prone shooting position to shoot six rounds into multiple ways of shooting in lying, kneeling, and standing positions, so that service personnel can complete target aiming and firing, magazine replacement, troubleshooting, target transfer, and multiple targets firing within a limited timeframe. Systematic training has been adopted to help develop muscle memory and gradually strengthen service personnel's shooting rhythm and stability as they are expected to be able to shoot accurately after leaping forward, requiring excellent cardiopulmonary function and shooting stability of officers and soldiers.

As Army Command has indicated and considering the attributes of each and every troop, their wartime missions, and differences in required shooting capabilities, various training methods have been formulated so that all troops can perform shooting at short, medium, and long distances well, and handle all terrains, from beaches and towns to jungles. Training such as this can effectively improve the shooting ability of individual soldiers who can then support various tactical maneuvers and eliminate enemy threats.

The Army Command emphasized that conformity to the actual combat training and policy guidance and goals of shooting training by the Ministry of National Defense (MND) has combined shooting obstacle boards in conjunction with position changes so soldiers can practice shooting at multiple targets, helping attain the training objective of "unity of man and gun." Extensive training is employed to cultivate professional shooting instructors for actual combat as well so training continuously improves effectiveness and strengthens the ability of troops in combat.
