Deputy Minister Po met the visiting delegation from the Foreign Affairs Ministry of Germany to exchange views and jointly promote regional peace and stability

(Reported by: Military News Agency, reporter Hsieh Hong-hui, Taipei, 8th, February) Po Horny-huei Alex, Deputy Ministry of National Defense, received a delegation from the Crisis Prevention Department of the German Foreign Affairs Ministry this morning. Both sides engaged in discussions of topics such as reserve mobilization mechanism, the current state of building-up the general strength among all nationals of our country and others. It is hoped that this exchange of opinions can provide a reference to the administration of national defense to help maintain peace and stability in the region of the Taiwan Strait.

The delegation from the Crisis Prevention Department of the German Foreign Affairs Ministry arrived at the Bo Ai Compound of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) in the morning, and was received by Po Horny-huei Alex, Deputy Minister of National Defense, on behalf of Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng. He welcomed the delegation warmly for their visit.

In the speech by Deputy Minister Po, he first expressed thanks to the German Institute Taipei for its active assistance in recent years to promote close interaction and exchange, making their activities more poignant and historic.

Deputy Minister Po believes that Taiwan and Ukraine are countries that are deeply affected by authoritarianism, and have a deeper understanding for the importance of safeguarding national security. As such, we should strongly oppose any country that launches a war against others, and we will not accept the comprise of the values of democracy and freedom. Most of all, even though war is not the only means of resolving disputes between countries, all countries should always be prepared with strong war preparedness capabilities to fight against invasion and resist foreign aggression at all times. Therefore, it is most important to establish a sense of national solidarity against the enemy and prepare for war during peace time.

Deputy Minister Po pointed out that CCP aircraft and warships have persistently harassed the safety of our sea waters and airspace, and the CCP has also adopted various means such as information warfare and other measures to manipulate the situation. It is exactly because we have confronted these increasing threats that Taiwan has resorted to several measures such as setting up the All-out Defense Mobilization Agency and reforms of military service and others in the past year. The purpose of these maneuvers is aimed to strengthen our self-defense capabilities as we face various challenges, and demonstrate the firm determination of the Republic of China in defending national sovereignty.

Deputy Minister Po also thanked Germany for supporting the deepening of relations with my country, and he hopes that the two sides will continue to maintain a firm and friendly friendship via various exchanges in the future to promote regional peace, security, and prosperity and development.
