Experience indigenous warships camp – Witness the excellent performance of vessels at close range
(Reported by, Military news agency, reporter Chou Li-sing, Kaohsiung, 7th, February) The "Experience Indigenous Warships Camp" sponsored by All-out Defense Education Winter-holiday Battle Camp was held today at Zuoying Military Port. Students from all over the country visited Yushan-class Landing Platform Dock, the Min Jiang-class Minelayer, and other indigenous warships to appreciate the performance and mission of these vessels. The camp enables young students to further understand the navy and get close to learn more about national defense affairs.
The camp was organized by Naval Fleet Command, and its activities included visits to Yushan-class Landing Platform Dock, the Kuang Hua VI-class missile boat, the Panshih fast combat support ship, and the Hai Hu Submarine of Chien Lung-class. Through the detailed explanations of naval officers and soldiers, students obtained a preliminary understanding regarding the mission nature for various types of naval ships. They also had the rare opportunity to get onboard these vessels, view the military equipment of the Navy, and witness the excellent performance of modern indigenous warships.
In addition, the camp had also arranged for students to take a ride on the minelaying boat and Hezi-class general-purpose landing craft utility (LCU) as they learned closely how naval officers and soldiers quickly release mines at "100 yards, 40 yards, 20 yards, release". The students heard how officers and soldiers move to automatic control after arriving at the designated positions to accurately deploy training mines. Rear Admiral Feng, Director of Political Warfare of Naval Fleet Command, issued training completion certificates to students to commemorate their participating in this winter-holiday battle camp.
