President Tsai expresses gratitude for the hard work of the Armed Forces on New Year's Day to maintain peace across the Taiwan Strait
(Reported by: Military News Agency, reporter: Chen Chun-chun, Taipei, 20th, January) Today is New Year’s Eve, and President Tsai Ing-wen has recorded a special video to deliver a New Year’s speech wishing all our nationals a Happy New Year. In her speech, she said that the past year was full of challenges and the pandemic put everyone to the test. The new year ahead will also bring trial, and the government will invest all efforts to confront the challenges caused by the pandemic, global inflation, and supply chain restructuring head-on.
President Tsai furthered stated, "The Armed Forces put all effort to hold fast to their posts, and do their best to safeguard our national security and protect our homeland." As for frequent disturbances and interferences by CCP warships and aircraft, and military drills around the periphery of the Taiwan Strait, the government has reiterated that it will firmly strive to sustain peace and stability in the Taiwan Strait and the wider region. The President would also like to render her thanks to her brothers and sisters in the Armed Forces for their hard work, and extends her gratitude to all of the police officers, firefighters, medical care professionals, government staff and partners from all walks of life as they continue to provide public services throughout the Chinese New Year.
