The Army strengthens its combat readiness during the Chinese New Year Drills to safeguard the homeland

(Reported by: Military News Agency, reporter: Chen Chun-chun, Kaohsiung, 11st, January) To enable our nationals to appreciate the precise combat capabilities of servicemen of the Armed Forces as they prepare for combat and strive to protect their homes during the Chinese New Year, the 4th Combat Zone worked with the Ministry of National Defense (MND) and invited domestic and foreign media reporters to the Tianshan camp to attend the Media Invitational Strengthened War Preparedness Event by the Armed Forces during the Chinese New Year 2023.

During the event, the combat readiness unit of the 3rd Combined Arms Battalion of the 564th Armored Brigade completed drills simulating combat scenarios, such as anti-aircraft landing operations, and implemented short-distance "real combat" training. During the drills they focused on subjects such as joint command and control, air defense operations, intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance at joint battlefields, long-range sniper shooting, joint fire strikes, combat-team attack by tanks, change of battle formations, and fire pursuits to demonstrate the independent combat capabilities of the Combined Arms Battalion.

This training comprises drills to simulate the plan of attack and defense in the event of a sudden and violent airborne assault by the enemy. After receiving combat orders, the troops are first to use air defense radars and missiles to carry out reconnaissance, information transmission, and air defense interception tasks to ensure the safety of surrounding areas. The recon platoon then uses tactical unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) to carry out reconnaissance against the enemy's first-line positions, and send back real-time recon and search images to determine the enemy's trends and location of the main force to help cover the follow-up main forces as they launch attacks.

M1045 TWO-missile vehicles then carry out shooting at the enemy's solid fortifications, while CM22 mortar vehicles prepare to shoot before attack. CM11 combat vehicles, CM33s, and CM34 infantry combat vehicles then proceed with attacks on the enemy and capture the targets as covered by the M56 Coyote Smoke Generator. The troops finally worked with AH-1W attack helicopters of the Army Aviation and Special Forces to carry out firepower pursuit on the retreating enemy troops to clear up positions.

The 4th Combat Zone pointed out that when our nationals reunite with their families during the Lunar New Year, every officer and soldier is still engaged in combat preparations, upholding the belief that there is no day off when it comes to national defense and security. It is thanks to service personnel like this who never leave their posts and protect their homeland with practical actions that allow the entire country to celebrate the Chinese New Year with peace of mind.
