New Year’s Day flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office demonstrates patriotism

(Reported by: Military News Agency, reporter: Lu Shang-yu, Taipei, 1st, January) The theme of this New Year’s flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office in 2023 (112th year of the Republic of China) is "United Will, Taiwan Goes Forward". The event was hosted by President Tsai Ing-wen in person. When the national flag was slowly raised to the sound of national anthem, everyone celebrated the first day of the year 2023 of the Republic of China.

 The flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office for the year 2023 is an important national celebration. In line with the theme of the ceremony, "United Will, Taiwan Goes Forward", the Honor Guard of the ROC and symphony orchestra of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) also showcased their magnificence and bearing in front of our nationals across the country. Students from military academies also took part in the flag-raising ceremony and expressed their love and passion for their country with practical actions.

 Defense Minister Chiu Kuo-cheng led Chan Bao-yu, Chief of Staff General, Mr. Bai Hong-hui, Vice Minister of Military and Political Affairs, General Wang, Vice Minister of Armaments, and representatives from various joint staff units as well as students from the Military Army, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Warfare College of National Defense University (NDU), Management College of NDU, Cheng Shan Institute of Technology of NDU, National Defense Medical Center (NDU), the Army Academy, the Air Force Institute of Technology, and Chung Cheng Armed Forces Preparatory School to participate in the flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office on New Year's Day. In total, 477 individuals participated in the event.

During the New Year's flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office, representatives from MD 300 Taiwan, Lions Clubs International led the crowd in singing the national anthem. The MND symphony orchestra and Honor Guard of the ROC expressed gratitude to our nationals for their efforts throughout the pandemic and elevating Taiwan on the international stage. Students from 10 military academies also participated in the flag-raising ceremony.

Among them, Tseng Tsong-wei, who is studying at the National Defense Medical Center of NDU, said that it was a great honor to represent the Medical Center in the New Year flag-raising ceremony at the Presidential Office for the year 2023 (R.O.C. 112th year), as he welcomed the first dawn of the New Year with all other military academies in Taiwan. He expressed his enthusiasm and desire to become a good military doctor in the future and embraced his role of "Strengthening Troops and Defending the Country." He looks forward to continuing his medical studies so he can serve his colleagues in the Armed Forces.
