Press Release of the Ministry of National Defense
Time: March 23, 2023 at 11:40

The Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (23 rd ) that existing stocks of
65K2 rifles at the Armed Forces are accurate and there is no discrepancy after a
preliminary forensic investigation. Special inventory was conducted of weapons,
ammunitions, explosive materials, and major components of the entire Armed
Forces to ensure strict management and control over weapons and ammunition.

The MND stated that the Armed Forces have dealt with the issue of the suspected
extraction of military weapons and ammunition very seriously. It requested all units
to take responsibility at each level of officer (cadre) to personally check their
weapons and ensure supervisors work with staff when conducting inspections and
taking inventory so all military branches and professional ammunition depots
supervise and inspect their subordinate units at each level, and report results
according to guidelines. The inventory of standing troops is expected to be
completed by March 25, and that of the entire Armed Forces before May 31.

The MND emphasized that the Armed Forces has established a strict management
mechanism for weapons, ammunition, and explosive materials in recent years,
which includes meticulous measures such as regular and irregular inventories. The
MND is fully cooperating with the investigation in the current case, and should the
weapons and ammunitions be found to have come from the Armed Forces, the MND
will pursue the person(s) responsible with the full force of the law to ensure the
logistics discipline of the Armed Forces.
