In response to media reports that "The Armaments Bureau was accused of hard-
selling old T-10D personnel parachutes to the Army", the Ministry of National
Defense (MND) has clarified as follows:

1. In view of safety requirements of special combat personnel, operational needs,
and considering acquisition schedules, the Army had acquired T-11B active
parachutes from the US Armed Forced in 2021 through military procurement
channels, and requested the original factory to transfer the technology capability to
the 209 th Plant (including parachute production, maintenance, damage identification,
parachute material inspection standard technical data, parachute materials, and
others) so that it can build up its maintenance capabilities.

2. The Army received a Letter of Offer and Acceptance from the US military in
December 2022 to acquire such intelligence according to the acquisition schedule.
As such, the media reports that the Armaments Bureau was "hard-selling" to the
Army to save on expenses is inconsistent with the facts. Command appeals to the
media to do their due diligence to verify reports that mislead the general public.
Speculative reports are not helpful in the acquisition of military supplies and
weapons.
