Matsu Defense Command issues a press release clarifying reports that "Juguang of Matsu had run out of food".

Press release of Matsu Defense Command
Time: March 5, 2023 at 23:10

In response to reports on social media that "Juguang of Matsu had run out of food",
Matsu Defense Command today (5 th ) clarified the situation as follows:

1. The military-chartered civilian ships responsible for transporting frozen non-
staple foods had recently been delayed due to poor weather and essential vessel
repairs. As a result, ships were unable to transport frozen non-staple foods, and meat
at the defense area was purchased locally from each of the islands.

2. Since the supply of goods around the Juguang area is limited and provisions by
vendor suppliers are unstable, the supply of meat was insufficient on the 4 th and 5 th
of this month. For the time being, the military has turned to canned foods to make
up for this deficit. All other foodstuffs are available. The reports online that all that
was left was rice are not correct.

3. Having learned of the situation, Command coordinated meat merchants at Nangan
to allocate frozen meat products to make up for the deficit around the Juguang area
tomorrow (6 th ). Command also places great importance on the health of servicemen,
and will therefore use C-130 transport aircraft to transport non-staple foods by air
tomorrow in case of further delays to regular transport routes using military-
chartered civilian ships.
