Air Force Command issues a press release explaining reports that "Air Force officers and soldiers are illegally selling firearms and ammunition on the internet"
In response to media reports that "Air Force officers and soldiers are illegally selling
firearms and ammunition on the internet", Air Force Command stated today (18 th )
that a private upper class, whose surname is Liu, and a private first class, whose
surname is Lai, purchased from a certain wing of Command and remodeled a hand-
gun and ammunition on the internet during a vacations. They were seized by the
police after attempts to sell them online. The case is being investigated by Shilin
Police Station, and has been transferred to the Taichung District Prosecutor's Office.
The unit has also completed a special inventory check of weapons and ammunition,
and it has been confirmed that no items are missing. Air Force Command
emphasized that since the case entered the judicial process it has cooperated fully
with the investigation, and will issue punishment for these acts as deemed prudent.
Command will also use this case as an example to continue to educate service
personnel on all areas of military law and discipline to instill an accurate
understanding of the law and prevent damage to its reputation.
