Army Command issues a press release stating that "Dongyin Area Command discovered an unidentified object that fell from the sky"

Army Command stated that Dongyin Area Command had found an unidentified
object that fell from the sky sometime around 11:00 today (16 th ). After searching the
shooting range, Command discovered the remains of a balloon. From the remains,
Command reports that it was about 1 meter in diameter, while the instrument box is
marked with the simplified Chinese characters "Taiyuan NO. 1 Radio Factory Co.,
Ltd.", "GTS13 Digital Radiosonde", and "Meteorological Instrument".
Army Command pointed out the remnants of the balloon were initially determined
to be from a meteorological detection instrument, but they would be kept by the
relevant ministry for further identification. Army Command has also requested all
units to strengthen their camp patrols, and make use of use intelligence surveillance
and investigation measures to stay abreast of any developments in surrounding
areas.
