The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release explaining the case of a military medical officer, surname Yang, who had not completed the legal period of service but applied for early discharge (December 28, 2022)

In response to the case of a military medical officer, of surname Yang, who had not completed the legal period of military service but applied for early discharge, the Ministry of National Defense (MND) has elaborated as follows:

 
1. In accordance with the Officer and Sergeant Service Regulations of the Army, Navy, and Air-Force, the MND handled the calculation of compensation for the military medical officer of surname Yang according to the laws and regulations. He had not completed active service but voluntarily applied for early discharge from the service, and related operational measures were followed.

2. The purpose of the service regulations is to establish a reasonable withdrawal mechanism, not only to respect the personal wishes of standing servicemen as they continue their service, but also to consider the cost of cultivation and education invested by the country to uphold combat power and national defense, and the organizational stability of the Armed Forces.


3. The MND honors the constitutional lawsuit to be filed by military medical officer of surname Yang, and will continue to administer itself according to the law to maintain the stability of military medical organization of the Armed Forces and ensure combat effectiveness.
