The Ministry of National Defense has responded to the news coverage on 30th regarding “A lack of over 60% reserve officers due to the examination termination of Second Lieutenant Compulsory Military Service Officer which may affect our military strength”
I.Due to reform of the military service system, the Second Lieutenant Compulsory Military Service officer examination has been terminated, causing the lack of manpower in non-commissioned officer of reserve force to increase every year.
II.Members of the reserve force are selected according to the conditions of service, class, expertise, tactical location, and household registration. The reserve force non-commissioned officers is primarily made up of voluntary reserve non-commissioned officers. Regarding the lack of officers, the headquarter is currently conducting a review by increasing the positions of promoting reserve cadres to officers, the revision of the reserve force’s layout, the relaxation of the selection of non-commissioned officers, and the extension of the selection and renewal period. In coordination with the deployment of current cadres on active duty and "enhancing the reserve force, these support measures are expected to meet the needs of the reserve forces army non-commissioned officers. With the consolidation of our reserve military power, calls upon the people for support and reassurance.
