Ministry of National Defense “Turning Point of the Nation - Battle of Guningtou 70th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition”

The Battle of Guningtou and the Battle of Dengbu Island turned the chaotic warfare in 1949, and laid down the foundation for the peaceful and stable development in Taiwan, Penghu, Kinmen, and Matsu for the past 70 years. This year happens to be the 70th anniversary of the Battle of Guningtou, and in order to manifest and remember the spirit of the comrades who dedicated and sacrificed for the country, as well as encourage all citizens to learn from the history and be prepared for danger in peaceful times, the Ministry of National Defense specially hosts the “Turning Point of the Nation - Battle of Guningtou 70th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition” at the Armed Forces Museum, which lasts from 18th October this year (2019) to March 27th, 2020. Ministry of National Defense hosted the opening ceremony at the Victory Hall of the Armed Forces Officers’ Club at 10:00 on 18th October, where reporters, advanced seniors, and schools of various levels were invited to provide guidance.

The exhibition contents of the “Turning Point of the Nation - Battle of Guningtou 70th Anniversary Memorial Exhibition” are divided into 7 major display units of “Preface”, “Pre-war Situation Analysis”, “Initial Battle - Dadeng Island Combat”, “Battle of Guningtou”, “Battle of Dengbu Island”, “Impact of War”, and “Reflection and Prospect”, where visitors are able to envelop themselves in an entertaining and educational atmosphere through precious artifacts, historical data, and images, as well as the integration of multiple interactive experience equipment including VR and AR, so that they can look back and witness this bloody and important battle where Armed Forces martyrs fought for the country and its people.
