Regarding the media coverage of “Trump Government Agreeing to Sell 66 Units of F-16V Fighter Aircrafts to Taiwan”, the Air Force Command Headquarters has stated today (16th) that it has proposed a procurement request to the USA for the new F-16V fighter aircrafts. The procurement is currently being examined according to the procedures, and the command headquarters is waiting for the official notice from the USA.
Air Force Command Headquarters pointed out that it has been proposing procurement requests for new models of fighter aircrafts since 2003 in accordance with enemy threats, overall defensive combat conception, and actual combat requirements. This procurement, after approved by the USA, will significantly elevate Taiwan’s air defense capability, reinforce self-defensive ability, and maintain regional peacefulness and stability.
