Ministry of National Defense: People’s Liberation Army military exercise should be verified before commenting
Regarding the media coverage of “Part of People’s Liberation Army Military Exercise Exceeding the Median Line of Taiwan Strait” and “Liaoning Aircraft Carrier May Have Crossed the Taiwan Strait to Conduct Military Activities”, Ministry of National Defense has stated today (29th) that the understanding of retired Major Lu is different from the definition of Taiwan Strait’s median line published by the ministry, and the ministry hereby solemnly states that the relevant military activity commented by Major Lu’s is related to national security, which can easily lead to public doubts and social turbulence if it is not verified before announcing on one’s own.
Ministry of National Defense pointed out that People’s Republic of China has not given up violating Taiwan with force until this day, and has been implementing various annual and planned military exercises at the East China Sea and its coastal areas, which has offended the 23000000 Taiwanese citizens in the Republic of China, sabotages the development of cross-strait peacefulness, and even severely damages regional safety and stability.
Ministry of National Defense emphasized that citizens can rest assured as when faced with the increasingly severe enemy threats and the changes in regional situation, the Armed Forces will uphold a responsible attitude, and utilize joint intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance to fully grasp on the surrounding sea and sky dynamics, in order to implement adequate response, safeguard national security, and ensure regional stability.
