Regarding the media coverage of “Non-commissioned Officer Tsai from Beitou Branch Suspected of Embezzlement”, the Tri-Service General Hospital has provided the following explanations (7th):
1. This is a case where the hospital took the initiative to investigate and then transferred it to the judiciary afterwards. The Tri-Service General Hospital began the implementation of internal examination and auditing, where non-commissioned officer Tsai was discovered to be tampering a payment handled by his colleagues, and was unclear about the flow of the specific payment; after investigation, non-commissioned officer Tsai was suspected of embezzlement from taking advantage of his position, and the hospital sent Tsai to the Shilin Military Police for investigation by adhering to the principle of “sentencing and punishment at the same time”. Tsai was recorded with 2 serious demerits, and underwent the unapplicable elimination procedure subsequently.
2. The case has entered judiciary procedure, and the Tri-Service General Hospital will be cooperating with the judiciary on the investigation, and utilize it as a propaganda example, in order to establish the idea of law abiding and pragmatic, as well as reinforce internal auditing measures to prevent similar incidents from occurring again in the future.
