Ministry of National Defense Conducts Military Base Reconstruction Fund Management Meeting to Brainstorm Ideas for Increasing Investment Efficiency (May 11, 2016)
(Military News Agency reporter, Chen Ying-Chu, Taipei, May 10th) The 30th Management Meeting of the Military Base Facilities Reconstruction Fund is conducted in the Bo-Ai Military Base of the Ministry of National Defense today. Focused on issues such as “17th Source Inventory of the Military Base Facilities Reconstruction Fund”, the meeting is conducted in the aims of hearing from the professional advices of the committee members and thus, ensuring the management of the Fund can be improved.
Presided by the provisional Fund convener, Deputy Minister of National Defense, General Cheng Te-Mei, the Management Meeting in the afternoon was attended by deputy convener, Deputy Chief of General Staff cum Executive Officer, General Pu Tze-Chun, Administrative Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Xu Pei-Shan, relevant Ministry of National Defense officials, National Property Administration of the Ministry of Finance, Department of Foreign Affairs, National Defense and Justice of the Executive Yuan, Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics of the Executive Yuan and Public Construction Commission of the Executive Yuan.
Besides the implementation report on the execution of the previous fund management meeting decisions and the summary of the major works in 2016, the meeting also discussed on the estimate of the 2017 annual budget, the reactivation and utilization of the vacant military bases in the hopes of effectively increasing fund utilization, land activation efficiency to provide a comfortable and quality life and combat readiness environment for the officers and soldiers in the hopes of strengthening the overall military might.
In his speech, Deputy Minister Cheng first expressed his gratitude for the assistance and guidance of the committee members and pointed out that the reconstruction of old military bases and facilities will be a long and comprehensive mission. He encouraged the personnel to cooperate with the central government departments to ensure communication and coordination between the Executive Yuan and local government, and at the same time, implement work control to guarantee that the promotion of the land allocation and projects will be conducted according to plan to safeguard the welfare interests of the military officers and soldiers. This will be beneficial to the promotion of the soldier recruitment policy and satisfy the military building and policy demands of the military.
