Scholars Visited Taiping Island to Witness Results of Economic Strategy and Recognize Organization of Camp (July 23, 2015)

Professor Chiang, Chia-Hsiung of National Chengchi University indicated that knowledge learned in Taiping Island allows students to become leaders of future education and advocacy
In the third-round Nansha Camp during the voyage, many experts and scholars led students to thoroughly understand the national policies and deeds relating to South China Sea in the field of diplomacy, military strategies, and regional research and further build a solid awareness of national territory and the firm faith in all-out defense. Scholars and experts deeply recognized this meaningful event held by Ministry of National Defense.
Professor Chiang, Chia-Hsiung of National Chengchi University, who served as the leader of the Camp, indicated that while witnessing soldiers engaging in various military training and striving to protect the security of southern national territory, students fully felt professionalism and teamwork demonstrated by coast guards, the Navy, and Air Forces as well as their resolution to support each other and protect the nation. These feelings not only became students’ faith, but also led them to become seeds of advocacy for future education of all-out defense. Professor Chiang thought that Nansha Camp had very high benefits and positive influences. Associate Professor Chao, Wen-Chih, who led graduates of National Chung Cheng University to participate in the Camp, stated that his impression on Taiping Island only came from newspaper and magazines in the past. This time, he visited Taiping Island in person by joining the Camp with students. What he felt deeply could not be expressed by words. Through participating in the Campy, he also had a more thorough and specific understanding of military strategy for South China Sea; that is, to work as one to face many external impacts and jointly maintain the statehood and dignity of R.O.C.
In addition, Tsai Wei, who serves as a visiting instructor at Chinese Culture University, explained the “A Plan for Peace in the South China Sea” proposed by President Ma, Ying-Jeou, and stated that the most important goal of the Camp was to allow students to understand the thinking of national economic strategies for South China Sea, active deeds which could be made, and the best access to the fulfillment of the idea goal under the principle of maintaining regional peace and stabilization and protecting the national interests and security of R.O.C. through discussions over the surrounding environment, the situation, and the policy of South China Sea. In the conversation with students during the voyage, it could be confirmed that the event held by Ministry of National Defense has achieved the goal of education successfully.
