The Reserve Command of the All-out Defense Mobilization Agency of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) issued a press release in response to media reports that "recall training recruits were diagnosed with COVID-19"

In response to media reports that "recall training recruits were diagnosed with COVID-19," the Reserve Command said today (30th) that the 1St battalion of Kaohsiung Reserve 2nd Brigade under the command implemented a 5 to 7-day recall training  from April 23 to 29. During the period, the Armed Forces worked within the military policy to carry out three quick test screenings. The first quick test screening was done when the recruits were first admitted, and the results were negative. However, in the 2nd and 3rd quick test screenings, the results of several recruits were found to be positive. As such, the unit contacted the neighboring health bureau according to regulations, and the confirmed cases were sent to Fangliao Hospital for PCR examination by ambulance. As test results were positive, contingent operation procedures were activated according to regulations, and such measures as disinfection of camp areas, key epidemic investigation, diversion, and partition management were conducted. For follow-up, the health status of the personnel will be continuously monitored and mastered.

According to the regulations of the CDC of the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and section 8, paragraph 1, Article 43 of the Military Service Law, the Command will discharge those recruits from recall training as of confirmed cases and close contact and implement home isolation, and is not involved in any concealing or unreported situation.

The Reserve Command emphasized that no one can stay out of the context of epidemic prevention work, and it will continue to carry out epidemic prevention measures and preparations based on various epidemic prevention policies and requirements by the central government and MND to ensure the overall combat effectiveness of the Armed Forces.
