The Ministry of National Defense issued a press release stating that "posts of Generals in the Armed Forces have been adjusted."
With the President’s approval, the positions of Generals in the Armed Forces will be adjusted as follows:
1. General Hsiung Hou-chi, commander of the Air Force, has been assigned another appointment due to health reasons; the commander of the Air Force is transferred from the deputy command of the Air Force, Lieutenant General Liu Ren-yuan, who has also been promoted to the General of the Air Force.
Liu Ren-yuan, deputy command of the Air Force, graduated from the Air Force Academy in 1985 and the Air Force War Academy in 2007. He has previously served as the director of the Planning Division of the Air Force Command, the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Command, and Commander of the Air Force Combat Command, among other positions, and is considered to have comprehensive backgrounds in major posts, studies, and experience. In his current post, he has helped guide various combat preparations for the Air Force, form emerging troop forces, and strengthen the mechanism of joint combat for air defense. Given his contributions, he is now being specially promoted as the General of Air Force Command in the hope that the Armed Forces can lean on his abundant experiences to persistently promote all kinds of military preparation works of the Air Force.
3. The aforementioned case of transferal shall take effect on May 1, 2022.
