Joint combat training of the three armed forces for live shell testing 66th Marine Brigade demonstrates streamlined and solid combat power

(Reported by: Military News Agency, reporter: Lin Tze-ting, Pingtung, 3rd) The 66th Marine Brigade recently conducted "Tri-Service Joint Combat Training Test of No. 111-2 Exercise" at the Joint Operations Training Base (JOTB), and troops thoroughly demonstrated their thriving firepower and successfully completed the operation drill.

In the early morning, participating officers and soldiers of the 3rd Battalion from the 66th Marine Brigade were on standby at the staging area to perform pre-exercise preparation. Under the guidance of judges from the JOTB, the servicemen completed ammunition loading and vehicle inspection, handling the exercises with the most rigorous attitude and strong fighting spirit.

In this exercise, F-16 fighter jets of the Air Force launched hot flares, while OH-58D battle recon helicopters of the Army Aviation and Special Forces fired 2.75-inch rockets. Then, M109A2 self-propelled guns and 120 mortars and other artillery fires were adopted to implement pressing firing, helping the ground forces to create a favorable situation. Next, the M60A3 battle bank and AAV7 amphibious assault vehicle (AAV), working in conjunction with the artillery unit, carried out blazing firepower as they launched attacks on the enemy position.

This live ammunition test properly verified the command and staff operation procedures, as well as communication and joint command maneuvers, of the brigade and battalion. As viewed, servicemen from the 66th Marine Brigade displayed high fighting spirit and tacit team understanding as they completed every exercise quickly with much discipline and effort and furnished the results of their solid daily training. As such, this exercise has demonstrated their mindset to work together to safeguard national security and the homeland.
