Press release of the 6th Army Command

16:50, May 13, 2022

In response to media reports that "the national rapid test kit team was diagnosed with the disease and several people from the same dormitory have been quarantined", the 6th Army Command stated today (13th) that this is not true. The photos of quarantined dormitories are not of the unit at hand and this story only begs to question the motives of the individual who reported this to the media.

The 6th Army pointed out that officers and soldiers who support the rapid test kit mission have to wear protective clothing provided by the manufacturer as they work in line with operation specifications. All supporting servicemen working in this area must undergo rapid test screening twice a week, especially on the first day after a holiday to ensure that they are in good health when they carry out this work on principle.

The 6th Army explained that all units of the Armed Forces follow the professional guidelines issued by the central government and the Ministry of National Defense (MND) when carrying out epidemic prevention tasks. Each camp has standard operation procedures (SOPs) for dealing with confirmed servicemen and those listed as close contacts. If any recruit needs to go home to isolate after coming into close contact with a patient, the troop will contact their family first then send the servicemen home, or use the existing space at the barracks that has been deemed appropriate for self-isolation.

The 6th Army stressed that all servicemen of the Armed Forces, including reserves and counseling cadres, work closely with government departments so that the general public are provided with sufficient rapid test kits. As such, both officers and soldiers fully support the national team in responding to the urgent needs of our nationals in the fight against the epidemic. Epidemic prevention is the top priority of our country at this time. Fake information is not helpful in our efforts to fight the epidemic. Command requests individuals not to spread rumors that serve only to mislead the public.
