Press release of Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command

18:00, May 4, 2022

In response to media reports that "reservists were diagnosed with a disease during recall training, then were sent away from the station", Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command stated today (4th) that three reservists affiliated with the Northern Joint Testing Center Command reported to cadres yesterday that they were feeling unwell. They were examined by medical personnel and rapid screening was carried out, following which they tested positive. Thus, the unit immediately dispatched an ambulance and transferred them to hospital for nucleic acid testing (PCR). The reservists were later discharged from recall in accordance with the law. The unit had also especially instructed relevant personnel to abide by the central epidemic prevention requirements after being discharged, not to take public transportation, and to take an epidemic prevention taxi or ask family members to take them home while awaiting PCR results.

Army Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command pointed out that the unit has comprehensive standard operation procedures for early discharge of personnel and activation of response mechanisms with due consideration of the health and safety of reservists and epidemic prevention. Nonetheless, if there are any imperfections during the process, Command will make further improvements to its practices. Furthermore, the Center had explained the incident to reservists from the same recall, and disinfected the camp. The Center will continue to care for anyone who is prematurely discharged from recall training due to epidemic prevention requirements.
