The MND stated today (13) that it attaches great importance to the confirmed COVID cases of officers and soldiers, and these confirmed cases were found to originate from a household infection as indicated from analysis. For situations of relevant cases, the MND has immediately activated contingency mechanisms as the barracks of focus are placed on a list, and it has also worked with measures based on the guidance of the Central Epidemic Command Center (CECC) and the local government health bureau, adopting the most rigorous attitude. Subsequently, contacts listed according to epidemic investigation were placed under on-site isolation, while PCR screening was conducted on individuals of the entire camp and so forth. Furthermore, various epidemic prevention measures were implemented, which should effectively reduce the risk of community spread.
The MND further explained that the current chief of epidemic prevention is the Deputy Minister of the Navy. Minister Chiu of National Defense has always honored and upheld the policy guidelines of the central government and expertise of the MND’s Epidemic Command Center in terms of various epidemic prevention actions. In the future, the MND will persistently adopt a positive attitude as it confronts the severe challenges of the epidemic and work closely with local governments and central government as it adopts concerted actions in order to stop transmission and jointly prevent the epidemic from spreading.
