In response to media reports that "the intelligence of Taiwan has failed by misjudging that Russia and Ukraine would not engage in battles of war, " the Ministry of National Defense (MND) solemnly stated today (28) that the Armed Forces has paid close attention to the situation in Russia and Ukraine, grasped regional developments, and will carry out relevant predictions with regard to all kinds of situations, which will be used as the basis for the Armed Forces to furnish its own proper and corresponding actions. In fact, the media have quoted erroneous sources as it insinuated that "the intelligence of the Armed Forces conducted ineffective judgments," which is inconsistent with the facts and reality, and the MND finds such inaccurate media coverage unfortunate.
The MND pointed out that the tri-services of the Armed Forces will continue to maintain a high degree of vigilance and stay alert in coping with the developments of the Ukrainian-Russian military conflict and threats from the enemy, as well as closely monitor the military dynamics around the Taiwan Strait to ensure national security. At this critical point of time, "it is our duty to defend our own country," and no one is exempt from doing so.
The MND emphasized that it would like to appeal to the media to be cautious about citing misinformation that is constantly coming in a massive volume from the outside world, as such information could affect the morale of our people and mislead the general public.
