     In response to media reports that relevant departments of the CCP have announced that they will carry out shooting exercises in parts of the South China Sea in the near future, the MND stated today (17^th) that the announced exercises will be held at near-shore and regular shooting training areas. The Armed Forces will adopt joint intelligence, and surveillance and reconnaissance measures to stay abreast of developments around the Taiwan Strait, and continue to monitor and respond to the situation as appropriate.
