In response to media reports that "an employee of the printing plant in the Armaments Bureau, MND, allegedly embezzled by privately printing teaching materials and was transferred for judicial investigation", the Ministry of National Defense (MND) clarifies today (20^th) as follows:

1. The 401st Plant of the Material Production and Manufacturing Center found an employee, whose surname is Chen, had taken orders on his own initiative in June 2020, and was transferred to the Kaohsiung MP Brigade on July 3, 2020. The situation is currently being investigated by the Qiaotou District Prosecutor’s Office, and the MND will adhere to the principle of "no wronging nor indulging” and work fully with the Justice Department according to laws and regulations.
2. Products commissioned for printing are manufactured under the supervision of both parties. The Manufacturing Production and Manufacturing Center has revised operation procedures, so that the agreements for commissions are, in all situations, signed by the plant manager with an electronic signature. Money for printing is transferred to the national treasury from the party that commissions the printing to prevent the recurrence of similar cases.
