In response to media reports that "the Armaments Bureau, MND, was questioned about waste as a result of its manufacturing process, resulting in a lack of combat outfits," a press release was issued to clarify the situation (December 28, 2020)

In response to media reports that "the Armaments Bureau was questioned about waste as a result of its manufacturing process, resulting in a lack of combat outfits," the Ministry of National Defense (MND) stated today (28^th) that the content of the report did not match the facts, and has clarified as follows:

1. The Material Production and Manufacturing Center, Armaments Bureau of the MND205 plant, has, since 2017, put combat outfits into mass production as it purchased 1.3 million meters of ballistic fiber and composites so far. According to statistics, the yield rate of protective helmets is 96.8%, while related manufacturing processes are carefully audited by a technical unit. After production, products are cleared following inspection and testing by a third-party, impartial authority before they are released to the forces for use. As such, there is no waste of materials and the media reports are inaccurate. 
2. Material obtainment and the mass production progress of protective helmets and ballistic plates from 2017 to 2020 has all been conducted normally, and items are made according to the needs of services.  Furthermore, payment is furnished according to the commission agreement schedule, free from any defaults.
3. Fighting outfits are a major achievement following local research and development by our nationals, and the MND would like to call on the public for their continuous support and efforts to promote national defense.
