Ministry of National Defense Press Release
The Ministry of National Defense (“MND”) said on July 10 that the Trump Administration notified the Congress on July 9 (EST) of the $0.62 billion arms deal, which has also been updated on the website of Defense Security Cooperation Agency (“DSCA”). The project will take effect in approximately 1 month.
The MND stated that the US is committed to furnishing Taiwan with defensive arms based on Taiwan Relations Act and Six Assurances to ensure regional stability. Such arms sales help strengthen Taiwan’s defense capabilities. The approval by the US government is greatly appreciated.
The MND further noted that this deal is the 7th arms sale to Taiwan under the Trump Administration. These deals highlight the importance attached to our national security by the US government, corroborating security partnership between both countries and reassuring peace and stability across and around Taiwan Strait.
