The Ministry of National Defense issues a press release explaining the positon adjustments of generals and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces (April 18, 2023)

Based on the decree of approval by the President, the positions of generals and admirals of the Armed Forces are adjusted as follows:

1. The Chief of Staff at the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the Ministry of National Defense (MND) will  transfer  Admiral Mei Jia-shu for service, the Commander of Naval Command, while  the Admiral Commander of Naval Command will  transfer  Vice Admiral  Tang Hua for service, previously serving as Deputy Chief of Staff at the GSH of  MND, as  he will also be promoted to Admiral (Second Class). Besides, the General Strategic Advisor to the Presidential Office will transfer  General Wang Xin-long for service, the Deputy Minister of Defense Armaments, while the Deputy Minister of Defense Armaments will  transfer   General Hsu Yan-pu for service, the Commander of Army Command, and the Commander of Army Command will  transfer  Lieutenant General Chung Shu-ming for service, previously serving as Deputy Commander of Army Command, as  he will also be promoted to the rank of  General (Second Class).

2.  Vice Admiral  Tang Hua, Deputy Chief of the General Staff Headquarters (GSH) of the Ministry of National Defense (MND), is a graduate of the 75th class of the Naval Academy and 93rd class of the War Academy. The positions in which he has served include Deputy Minister of the Operation Planning Office, Commander of Naval Education, Training and Doctrine Development Command, Vice President of the National Defense University, Deputy Commander of Naval Command, and others, and is considered to have a holistic educational background and experience. During his current tenure, he has directed the national defense strategy and enhanced the effectiveness of joint operations for the three armed forces and contributed significantly. As such, he has been especially promoted and transferred to the position of Admiral Commander of Naval Command so that he can continue to promote various military preparations and build-up for the Navy based on his vast experience.

3. Lieutenant General Chung Shu-ming, Deputy Commander of Army Command, is a graduate from the 75th class of the Military Academy and 92nd class of the War Academy. The positions in which he has served include Deputy Minister of the Operation Planning Office, Commander of MP Command, Chief aide-de-camp of the Department of Security Affairs to the Presidential Office, Commander of the 6th Army, and others, and is considered to have a holistic educational background and experience. During his current tenure, he has directed various combat training tasks and improvements of reserve combat power for the Army and contributed significantly. As such, he has been especially promoted and transferred to the post of General Commander of the Army so that he can continue to promote various military preparations and build-up for the Army based his vast experience.

4. The above-mentioned transfers of positions will take effect on May 1, 2023.
